Equity Residential Privacy Rights Request Form

If you’re a California Personnel or California business-to-business data subject, you may make requests to us using the Equity Residential HR and B2B Privacy Rights Request Form.

As explained in Section 2 of our State Privacy Notice, those rights are as follows:

California Consumers have the right to know categories of PI, as follows:

• The categories of PI we have Collected about you in the prior 12 months;
• The categories of sources from which the PI was Collected;
• The Business or Commercial Purposes for which we Collected, Sold, or Shared the PI;
• With what categories of Third Parties we have disclosed the PI;
• The categories of PI we disclosed for a Business Purpose in the prior 12 months and, for each category identified, the categories of recipients, or that no disclosure occurred; and
• The categories of PI we Sold or Shared in the prior 12 months and, for each category identified, the categories of recipients, or that no Sale or Share occurred.

California, Colorado, and Texas Consumers have the right to request a transportable copy, no more than twice in a twelve-month period, of your PI that we have Collected.

Additionally, California Consumers have the right to delete PI we have collected directly from you, Colorado Consumers have the right to delete PI we have collected concerning you, and Texas Consumers have the right to delete PI provided by you or obtained by us about you, subject to our various retentions rights (for which permitted retention purpose we will restrict data you request we delete).

California, Colorado, and Texas Consumers have the right to bring inaccuracies they find in their PI that we maintain to our attention and we will act upon such a Rights Request as required by the applicable law.

Colorado and Texas Consumers may appeal a decision we make regarding a Rights Request by sending an email identifying the Consumer, the date and subject of the Rights Request, and the date of our decision that you want to appeal, to consumerprivacy@eqr.com, or write to us with that information at Two North Riverside Plaza, Suite 400, Chicago IL 60606 Attention: Privacy Compliance. We will investigate your appeal and may contact you with additional questions. We will provide you with a written response to your appeal within the time frame required by law.

Cookie-related Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out rights: California, Colorado, Nevada, and Texas Consumers have the right to opt-out of Selling/Sharing/Targeting of your cookie-related PI, for which we offer a tool to limit certain Third-Party cookie data Collection and use that may be deemed a Sale/Share/Target. Click here to use that tool and see the Do Not Sell/Sale/Target section of our State Privacy Notice for more information. This opt-out must be exercised on every browser and device. Since your opt-out under this section is designated by a cookie, it will not be effective if you block or clear cookies. Note, this cookie-related Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out must be exercised separately from your non-cookie related Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out rights explained below.

Non-cookie related Do Not Sell/Share/Target opt-out rights: We may make your PI available to Third-Parties for their own use. California, Colorado, Nevada, and Texas Consumers have the right to opt-out of our Selling/Sharing/Targeting of your non-cookie related PI. You must exercise cookie and non-cookie related Do Not Sell/Share/Target rights separately.

If you want to exercise your rights to know, access, delete, correct, or opt-out of Selling/Sharing/Targeting of non-cookie related PI, please complete this form to submit a Rights Request or call us at (866) 869-5413. We will respond to your request as required by the U.S. Privacy Laws.

This form is not for Equity Residential employees, former employees, job applicants, independent contractors, or others who believe PI has been provided to Equity Residential by any of the foregoing (all referred to as “Personnel”). This form is also not for those who interact with Equity Residential while representing another business (referred to as a “business-to-business data subject”). California, Colorado, and Texas Consumers have the right to a portable copy of the Personal Information we have Collected about you, no more than twice in a twelve-month period and subject to certain exceptions (for example, if we have your Social Security number or banking information, the U.S. Privacy Laws prohibit us from sending that to you, however, we will inform you if we have Collected this type of information about you.). You may exercise this right by making a Rights Request to us.

If you want a copy of your Personal Information, we are required to verify your identity to a reasonably high degree of certainty, and we require a signed affidavit from you, attesting under penalties of perjury that you are the Consumer whose Personal Information is the subject of the request.

Under U.S. Privacy Laws, California, Colorado, and Texas Consumers have the right to delete your Personal Information, subject to certain exceptions (for example, if you are a current resident we cannot delete your Personal Information because we need it to continue our business relationship with you or if we need to retain it to meet legal or regulatory requirements). You may exercise this right by making a Rights Request to us.
